On April 30, 2012 the University honored scholarship recipients, students, and fellows in the field of aging. The Interim Director of the Sanford Center for Aging, Denise Montcalm, began with a welcome and introduction. This was followed by a presentation of awards for those in the Gerontology Academic Program graduating with a minor or certificate, Division of Geriatric Medicine Graduates, Scholars in Health Literacy, and graduate and undergraduate scholarship recipients. Additionally, UNR President Marc Johnson and the Dean of the School of Medicine, Thomas Schwenk, addressed the audience with thoughtful comments regarding the importance and necessity of aging scholarship in Nevada.
