Advanced Course

The Advanced Course is a two-year program which students generally enter at the junior level. It is designed to fully prepare students for graduation and for commissioning as Second Lieutenants in one of the following areas of the Army:

U.S. Army (Active)

U.S. Army Reserve

Army National Guard

During the summer between your junior and senior years, you'll attend the Leadership Development Assessment Course (LDAC), a training session that will give you hands-on feeling for the Army, and let you practice everything you've learned - including how to lead.

This advanced program, which constitutes the minimum requirement of four courses, focuses on the areas of leadership development, military tactics, administration, organization, and management. Enrollment in this advanced course requires either basic course completion, prior military experience or attendance at the five week summer Basic Camp.

Activities include: Rifle Marksmanship, Physical Training, Extended Field and Leadership Training, and others...

The Two-Year Program and Basic Camp

The Two-Year Program is for those students who have not participated in the Basic Course, but would like to enter the program. This program is only for eligible students who have at least two years left at the university.

As part of the Two-Year Program, ROTC Basic Camp, otherwise known as the Leader's Training Course (LTC), is a fully-paid four week course taken before the Advanced Program usually between your sophomore and junior years. The training is held at historic Fort Knox, Kentucky. This is where you'll learn basic military skills through hands-on practice and acquire knowledge other cadets may have gained through two years of on-campus ROTC classroom and leadership lab experiences. At Basic Camp you'll:

Learn to be a Leader
Learn the value of Teamwork
Test yourself Physically
Challenge yourself Mentally
Learn Basic Soldiering
Earn while you learn
Have an opportunity to compete for a Scholarship
Upon successful completion of Camp Challenge, you'll be eligible for the Advanced Course.
