How to Create a Submission with IRBNet

  1. Log in to IRBNet and navigate to the My Projects section (My Projects will display in the upper right corner of the page).

  2. Select Create a New Project in the upper left-side navigation pane.

  3. Enter a project title, the local PI’s name, complete any optional boxes that are applicable and select Continue.

  4. Select Add New Document at the bottom of the Designer page (this is labeled Step 2, but you can return to Step 1 later).

  5. Click Add under On-Line Document at the bottom of the page. This will take you to the required cover sheet for your protocol.

  6. First time users must create a new wizard from scratch. Returning users may choose to create from scratch or clone an existing wizard.

  7. To create from scratch, select Create a new wizard from scratch then click Continue.
  8. Read the instructions and click Next.
  9. Enter the Principal Investigator information in the required fields and select Next. You will be asked follow-up questions based on the information you provided in the cover sheet.
  10. To add research team members, select Yes, then select Next.

  11. Multiple team members may be added by selecting Add Another Team Member at the bottom of the page and completing the form for each member.

  12. Continue through the form until you reach a screen that states Form Complete. This page provides a list of required documents based on your answers. The cover sheet will summarize the documents to add to the Designer Section. Documents are named specific to subject matter. Call RIO staff if You have questions.  Click on Save and Exit.

  13. Choose the appropriate IRB committee from the drop down menu in the Select a Library section.

  14. Choose the appropriate document from the drop down menu in the Select a Document section.

  15. Complete the downloaded document and save to your computer. Select Add New Document to upload the completed document to IRBNet.

  16. Choose the Document Type from the drop down menu. To attach the completed document, browse to locate the file on your computer, select the file and click Attach. Repeat until all requested documents are attached.

  17. Review the application in the Project Overview section of the left-side navigation pane.

  18. You may share your protocol with others registered in the system at any time by choosing Share this Project and selecting how you would like to share it (i.e., Share, Multi-Site or Transfer).

  19. Search for a user with whom you would like to share the project.

  20. Choose the level of access you would like the person to have and click Save.

  21. Select Sign this Package. Choose your role from the drop down menu and click Sign.

  22. Enter your IRBNet ID and Password and select Continue.

  23. The package must be submitted for IRB review. Select Submit this Package.

  24. Select the appropriate committee and click Continue.

  25. Indicate the Submission Type by selecting it from the drop down menu and click Submit.
    NOTE: Once submitted, the protocol cannot be deleted.
