Research Areas

Faculty and students of the School of Community Health Sciences conduct state-of-the-art research in a wide range of areas related to public health.  Research in the school is supported by grants and contracts from numerous federal, state, local and private sources, including: the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Science Foundation, the Department of Energy, the Nevada State Health Division, the Nevada Trust Fund for Public Health and the Washoe County School District.   The findings from faculty and student research are published in respected academic and professional journals, including: American Journal of Epidemiology; American Journal of Health Behavior, American Journal of Public Health, Archives of Physiology and Biochemistry, Biometrika, Epidemiology, Environmental Health Perspectives, International Journal of Health Services, Journal of American Statistical Association, Journal of Physical Activity and Health, and Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
