Department of Managerial Sciences
The MSF program is aimed at individuals interested in pursuing graduate education in Finance. The objective is to offer a program that will provide graduates with the knowledge and skills required to successfully attain professional certifications. The professional certifications that the program will target are the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), the Certified Financial Manager (CFM) and the Certified Treasury Professionals (CTP). The program will consist of a broad core set of courses covering economic theory, statistical applications in finance and theory of financial concepts.
The nature of financial professionals has changed significantly over the past few years. Financial professionals currently spend substantial time performing data analysis and strategy development. Due to the changing nature of the industry, financial professionals must continually acquire new skills. Most mid-level and higher end positions in finance now require a graduate degree.
The MSF program will help to fill these growing needs of working and aspiring finance professionals. The MSF program is designed to help students develop technical and analytical in the area of finance and to acquire the core conceptual knowledge about the applications of those skills in solving financial business problems and furthering the body of knowledge through ongoing research. The MSF program consists of two options: option A (thesis option) with 30 credits and option B (non-thesis option) with 33 credits.
