Spanish
Students majoring in foreign languages and literatures choose a field of concentration in Spanish, French, or German. The Spanish program includes courses in Peninsular, Hispanic-American, and U.S. Latino culture and literature. A Certificate of Translation in Spanish is also available. Selected courses are also available in Italian, Japanese, Latin, Russian and classical Greek.

The College of Liberal Arts contains the disciplines of the humanities and social sciences, as well as the School of the Arts and the new School of Social Research and Justice Studies.
A liberal arts education at the University of Nevada, Reno emphasizes inquiry, discovery and openness to new ideas and perspectives. Through intensive study of a major field and broad exposure to other disciplines, liberal arts students develop intellectual curiosity, research skills, eagerness to discuss difficult questions and the ability to define and solve complex problems.
