Interior Design

A design education is a broadly based study of human experience and interaction with the man-made environment, rooted in the liberal arts and design fundamentals, with a focus on purposeful problem solving. The interior design program develops creative, applied, communication, and critical thinking skills through an interdisciplinary curriculum that prepares graduates for careers in residential and/or commercial interior design and many related fields. The design major balances human well-being and quality-of-life concerns with functional, aesthetic, behavioral, environmental and pragmatic approaches to problem solving. Through required coursework, students learn principles of design, the design process, critical thinking and problem solving skills, methods of presenting design concepts, and business practices relevant to interior design.
