Jannet Vreeland received a bachelor of arts in English literature from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and a doctorate in accounting from Texas A&M University in College Station. She taught as a lecturer in the Department of Accounting and Computer Information Systems from 1985-86 before leaving to pursue her doctorate. She returned to the University as an assistant professor in 1991. Dr. Vreeland has served as the Vice Provost of the University of Nevada, Reno since January 1, 2003. As Vice Provost, she oversees the University's personnel and space matters. In 2008, she was also named Secretary of the University.
Vreeland has received numerous awards, including the Beta Alpha Psi Faculty of the Year Award, 2002 the University and Community College System of Nevada Regents Outstanding Faculty, Employees and Students Award, 2001; COBA Alumni Association Outstanding Faculty Award, 1998; University of Nevada, Reno Accounting Circle's Outstanding Accounting Teacher of the Year, 1992. She has published 20 peer-reviewed articles, chapters and books on various business and management topics including ethics, compensation and audit practices.
