Reporting a Crime

Online Crime Report Form

University of Nevada, Reno Police Department
Emergency Dial 911 (On Campus Phone 9-911)
Non-Emergency Dispatch 775-334-COPS (2677)
Administrative Office 775-784-4013

To contact the police or report a crime:

Any Emergency should be reported to a 911 dispatcher at once. For non-emergency situations requiring a police officer to respond, call the non-emergency dispatch number 775-334-COPS

If you have been the victim of a crime and it is a non-emergency situation, please use the on-line report form. This form is intended to be used in cases in which investigation at the scene is not necessary (i.e. theft from an office that was left unattended, a bike that was left unlocked). The form will be e-mailed to our department and will be processed by a police officer. Please make sure you complete all contact information so the officer can reach you. If you would like confirmation of receipt of the e-mail, please indicate that on the form in the "additional information" area.

Please be sure to list make, model number, serial number, value and descriptions of all stolen items in your on-line report. If you have questions about whether an incident should be reported, or if you would like to speak directly to an officer, please feel free to call the administrative office at 775-784-4013 during business hours or dispatch at 775-334-COPS to be forwarded to a police officer.

Major crimes still need to be reported directly to an officer as soon as possible. Major crimes include murder, sexual assault, domestic battery, assault, arson, weapons, and theft in which an office, building, or residence was broken into.

In Nevada, it is a crime to file a false police report. PER N.R.S. 199.120, FALSE POLICE REPORTS WILL BE PROSECUTED.
