21st Century Learning

21st Century Learning "fuses the three Rs (reading, writing, and arithmetic) with the four Cs (critical thinking and problem solving, communication, collaboration, and creativity)." In melding the Core Standards with 21st-century skills—life and career skills, learning and innovation skills and information, media and technology skills—and themes—global awareness; financial, economic, business, and entrepreneurship literacy; civic literacy, and health literacy—the Partnership for 21st-Century Skills hopes to create a more able and globally competitive student. 21st Century Learning includes but is not limited to technology integration in education for the purpose of increasing student engagement with educational materials as well as facility with technology for use in both personal and professional endeavors. 21st Century Learning is nothing new—it is preparing students to become well-informed and productive citizens in a global economy.
