Contractor and Vendor Parking

The Parking and Transportation Servicesbuilding

The campus parking systems is a self-supporting enterprise, just like your company. We receive no state appropriations. State policy prohibits the use of tax dollars to support the system. Therefore, all parking expenses are paid from the fees paid by students and others who park here. Parking fees are established to provide sufficient annual revenue to cover the cost of repairing and operating the lots as well as constructing new spaces. In order to keep those fees as inexpensive and equitable as possible, all users - and that includes those who work here - share the costs.

Parking Meters

Close-in, short term, day or night parking is available at $1.50 per hour with a two hour limit. Meters are located in various areas throughout the campus for your convenience. Meters are enforced Monday-Thursday 7:30am to 8:00pm and Friday 7:30am to 5:00pm

Parking Permits

If you need to come to campus frequently, you may purchase a parking permit at the Parking and Transportation Services Department. To obtain a parking permit with the Vendor/Contactor designation, which will allow parking access in all zones on campus except Silver Zone 1, you will need to bring a copy of your contract or business card to the parking office. Verification will be made with the University of Nevada, Reno Purchasing Department. The 2007-2008 permit price is $430. If your visits to campus are less frequent, you may stop at the Information Center or Parking and Transportation Services Office and obtain a daily permit. The price for 2007-2008 is $5 per day for the silver zones and $3 per day for the tan, green or blue zones..

Deliveries

Deliveries may be made at any loading zone located throughout campus free of charge. You need to make sure that the handle is turned to get the free 15 minutes at the loading zone. Service vehicle stalls may also be used as 15 minutes loading zones. However, you must first obtain a FREE Temporary Service Vehicle Parking Permit prior to parking in service vehicle stalls. These are available at either the Information Center, or the Parking and Transportation Services Office, and are good for 15 minutes.

Okay, but how do I unload equipment?

Service vehicle spaces are for use by University Service Vehicles. A University service vehicle is defined as those vehicles owned or recognized by UNR and properly designated by an official university emblem and identification number.

As a courtesy, you may access the Service Vehicle parking spaces with your annual Vendor/Contractor parking permit for a 15 minute time limit. This should be sufficient time to unload equipment and tools to the work area. Then you may proceed to park your vehicle in any silver zone area, except Silver 1, while completing your business on campus.

If your service calls to campus are infrequent, you may pick up a temporary Vendor/Contractor daily permit at the Information Center or the Parking and Transportation Services Department for $5. This permit will allow you the same parking access as an annual Vendor/ Contractor permit as stated above.

Lastly, if you are just dropping off materials, equipment, etc., you may pick up a 15 minute Service Vehicle permit at no cost at either the Information Center or the Parking and Transportation Services Office. Please be advised that the 15 minute Service Vehicle stalls are strictly enforced throughout the day.

Any parking needs that require more that 15 minutes will require the purchase of a $5 temporary daily permit. This permit will be assigned to a parking zone based on availability.
