Permits & Fees
Parking Permits and Designations 2008-2009
Permits must hang from the rearview mirror or be placed in a clear pocket and attached to the passenger side of the windshield. Permit information must face outward to be clearly visible. Permits remain university property and can be reclaimed if an individual's privilege to park on campus has been revoked. Vehicles shall be parked only in authorized designated parking zones. Please note, not every space is signed with its designation.
Available permits are indicated on the current parking permit application, or use the carpool permit application if you will be carpooling. (Silver 11 carpool parking permits are currently sold out.)
Silver Permits
Are sold based on waiting lists and allow parking in the silver zone designated on the front of the permit and in all Tan, Green and Blue zones. Silver zones are strictly enforced until 5:00pm weekdays except for a portion of silver zone 4 that is designated and enforced 24 hours 7 days a week. Silver permit holders may park in any silver zone after 5:00pm (see exceptions). Silver semester permits are available but do not include the summer session.

West Stadium Parking Complex Permits (Silver 17)
Allow parking on any level of the complex and in all green and blue zones. Semester permits are available but do not include the summer session.
$375 Annual or $188 per Semester. Carpool permits are also available for this zone
Green Permits
Are available in limited quantities and allow parking in the Green and Blue zones.
$205 Annual. Carpool permits are also available for this zone
Blue Permits
Are available in limited quantities and allow parking in Blue zones (see exceptions)

Yellow Permits
Are available in limited quantities to students residing on campus and allow parking only in the Yellow, Tan, Green or Blue zones. Only yellow permits are allowed in yellow zones, 24 hours 7 days a week (see exceptions).

Orange Permits
Allow parking only in the zone location designated on the permit. Exceptions do not apply to Orange Permits.
University Disabled Permits
possession of state placard required for issuance, allow parking in the disabled spaces only. Access to certain gated areas on campus requires obtaining a transponder from the Parking and Transportation Services Office.

Evening Permits
AFTER 3:30pm allow parking in the West Stadium Parking Complex, green or blue zones.This excludes all yellow zones, silver zone 1, and any spaces marked “enforced 24 hours 7 days a week”. See exceptions in rules and regulations.

Mopeds, Motorcycles and Motor Scooters
Must be parked in motorcycle parking areas and may not occupy automobile parking spaces. They must be registered as a motorcycle with the Parking and Transportation Services Department and must display a valid university parking permit on the right fork or fender. Mopeds, motorcycles and motor scooters must not be driven on sidewalks or pedestrian access routes and must be driven with due regard for the safety of pedestrians. $40 Annual
University Highlands Permits
Are required to ride the East Campus Shuttle serving the University Highlands Apartments and also allow parking in the West Stadium Parking Complex AFTER 3:30pm. In addition, this permit is valid in the Green zones during winter and spring breaks and in Blue zone during the summer.

Circus Circus Parking
This permit is valid in the Circus Circus Garages on the two top floors ONLY. If you need to park anywhere on the UNR campus, including evenings, you must purchase a parking permit from the Parking and Transportation Services Department. Exceptions do not apply to Circus Circus Permits.

Bicycles
Bicycles used on campus must be registered yearly with the Parking and Transportation Services Department, and be ridden and parked with due regard for the safety of pedestrians. There is no charge for bicycle registration. Racks are provided throughout the campus and must be used to ensure proper parking. Bicycle lockers are available for rental. Bicycles may not be parked (except in racks) on the sidewalks, in pedestrian access routes to buildings, or inside buildings. Bicycles parked in buildings deemed to be in violation of fire and/or safety codes will be impounded at owner's expense. Bicycles may not be chained to any object other than a parking rack. Bicycles not displaying a university bicycle permit are subject to citations.

Metered Parking
Is enforced Monday through Thursday from 7:30am to 8:00pm, and Friday from 7:30am to 5:00pm (see exceptions). $1.50 per hour with a two hour maximum. Note: some meters are 30 or 45 minute maximum.
Visitors
May obtain a temporary parking permit for a $3.00 daily fee at the Information Center located at the Center Street entrance to campus, or the main parking office located off 16th street. Parking permit dispensers may also be used to purchase temporary parking permits for $5.00 per day. Permit dispensers are located on the top floor of the Brian J. Whalen Parking Complex. Visitors may use metered parking spaces.
Violation Fines
Improper Display of Permit- $5: Parking permits must be displayed as indicated in these regulations.
Overtime Parking- $20: Vehicles parked at meters must have the appropriate meter fee deposited. Vehicles may not be parked in loading zones longer than 15 minutes.
Line Straddling- $10: Vehicles may not be parked on or overlap any parking lines marked on the pavement.
Parking in Improper Zone-$30: Vehicles must be parked only in authorized areas.
No Parking Zone- $30: Vehicles may not be parked in areas designated as no parking. Areas not specifically marked for parking are no parking zones.
No Parking Permit- $30: Vehicles must display valid university parking permits.
Red Zone- $30: Vehicles may not park in a zone which has been painted red as to indicate no parking.
Parked on Lawn or Planted Area- $40: Vehicles may not be parked on lawns, planted areas, or dirt areas contiguous with a planted area.
Obstructing Traffic- $40: Vehicles may not be parked obstructing traffic flow of prohibiting free access of another vehicle.
Fire Hydrant- $40: Vehicles may not be parked within 15 feet of a fire hydrant or fire alarm box.
Blocking Sidewalk, Driveway or Doorway- $25: Vehicles may not be parked on paved or unpaved sidewalks or driveways, or at entrances to buildings.
Parked in Gated Area- $50: Unauthorized vehicles may not be parked in areas controlled by a gate arm. This regulation is enforced even if the gate arm is raised or missing.
Parking Privileges Suspended- $50: Parking on the campus is a privilege which may be revoked at any time with cause.
Possession of Forged, Stole or Lost Permit- $250: Vehicles may not display forged, stolen or lost permits. Altering permits constitutes forgery. Parking privileges are suspended and disciplinary action may be taken. In addition, the full price of the confiscated permit will be assessed.
Disabled Parking Zone- $250: Vehicles may not park in spaces designated for the disabled unless legally authorized.
No Bicycle Permit- $5: All bicycles must display valid university parking permits.
