Once a university permit is purchased, it allows for parking in any of the disabled spaces on campus. If you wish to utilize a disabled space located in a gated area, a transponder can be obtained from the Parking and Transportation Services Department for a refundable deposit. Although one disabled accessible permit is issued, it is valid in any vehicle registered with the Parking and Transportation Services Department.
It is imperative that disabled individuals park within disabled parking spaces. If all disabled spaces are full, you may park in a regular space. We request that you call the Parking and Transportation Services Department if this occurs. We will keep a log of these calls to assist in determining the demand for disabled parking spaces within a given area. Please familiarize yourself with the various disabled spaces on campus.
A campus disabled permits are required in the disabled parking areas from 7:30am to 8:00pm Monday through Thursday and 7:30am to 5:00pm on Fridays. At all other times, including weekends, DMV placards must be displayed to utilize the disabled parking areas.
Vehicles may not park in spaces designated for the disabled unless eligible and the vehicle displays a university disabled accessible parking permit. Vehicles may not park in areas striped for disabled access. Vehicles parking in disabled parking spaces without any disabled placards or permits will receive a $250 parking fine.
A warning is issued to a first time disabled patron who is found parked on campus with only a DMV plate or placard. In addition, an informational flyer explaining the policy is left on the windshield. After one warning, a no parking permit violation is issued.
If a disabled placard or disabled parking permit is used by any one other than the registered owner of the placard, a citation in excess of $250 will be issued.
