  • My Advice for New Students: Don't be afraid to ask for or get help. Don't give up on anything and remember that work works.
  • Campus Involvement and Interests: Working, Nevada Men's Ultimate Frisbee Club Sport, Latino Student Advisory Board (LSAB), Intervarsity, and playing music.

Chandler Wright

  • My advice for new students: BUDGET YOUR MONEY! Of course, it's okay to have fun, lots of it, but never forget for a split second the real reason why you're here: education and benefiting your future! Never be afraid to ask for help.

  • My Advice for New Students: In your first year of college, it is crucial to make new friends. For this is your new life, your next chapter. Don't be afraid to come out of your comfort zone and make your life what you want.
  • Campus Involvement and Interests: Snowboarding, horseback riding, outdoor life (hiking, camping, rock climbing), yoga and having school spirit. GO PACK!

  • My Advice for New Students: Be excited to meet other new students. College is the best time to step out of your comfort zone, so don't hesitate!

  • My Advice for New Students: The key to finding what you love most in college is not being afraid to put yourself out there. By being bold and pushing yourself out of your comfort zone, you will find passions you never knew you had.

  • My Advice for New Students: Get involved on campus in anyway you can, whether it's within a Greek Organization, student government, or other clubs, but remember to find time to study and balance your grades! While college is a fun and exciting time, remember that you are here first and foremost for an education.

Yajaira Esparza

  • My Advice for New students: Unlike high school, you'll actually enjoy being here, so make the best of it. Step out of your comfort zone, speak up and be open to meeting awesome new people!
  • Campus Involvement and Interests: Traveling, being a musician, and a Youth Ambassador for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

  • My Advice for New Students: Sit near the front of the class, don't be afraid to ask questions, and be involved in something on campus. Doing these small things will help improve your GPA and ensure you get the full college experience!

  • My Advice for New Students: Take advantage of all the activities on campus. A lot of them are free, and it's a great way to connect with campus life.

  • My Advice for New Students: Your college experience is what YOU make it! So be open to new things, because you never know what you may end up liking.

  • My Advice for New Students: If there's a particular field of study or extracurricular activity that catches your eye, don't hesitate and jump in with both feet. You may find that your home at the University of Nevada is in the place you were least expecting.
  • Campus Involvement and Interests: Presently: Fraternity and Sorority Life, and Student Ambassadors. In the Past: Asian American Student Association, Study Abroad with USAC, and Women's Rugby Club.

  • My Advice for New Students: DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. It is so easy to get caught up, but try your hardest not to.
  • Campus Involvement and Interests: College of Education Senator, Women's Rugby Club, University of Nevada Education Association, NYE Leadership Council, and Elementary School Worker.

Andrea Sanford

  • Major: Chemistry

  • My Advice for New Students: Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. There are so many resources on campus, and there is no shame in going to the tutoring center a couple times a week if it results in improving your grades.
  • Campus Involvement and Interests: Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE), Intramural Soccer and Basketball, Residence Hall Association Wing Leader, and the BSMD Program.

Cameron McGifford

  • Major: Mechanical Engineering

  • My Advice for New Students: Don't underestimate your classes at the beginning of the year. You don't want to make it to your first midterm before you realize you should've paid more attention.
  • Campus Involvement and Interests: I take part in Fraternity and Sorority Life, and along with my hobbies which include music, sports, video games and fitness.

Brianna Muse

  • My Advice for New Students: Don't be afraid to be yourself. When your comfortable in your own skin and happy within yourself, everything else will fall into place.

  • My Advice for New Students: College requires the right amount of self- discipline, allowing adequate time for fun,and to be successful.

Regina Roberson

  • Major: Philosophy with a specialization in Ethics, Laws and Politics, and Political Science

  • My Advice for New Students: Everyone is going to tell you to get involved with Clubs and Orgs, which is not a bad thing, but with that there is tons of responsibility, especially with time management. So, make sure you use all of the university resources that can help you work on time management or help you with writing that 20 page paper that way you'll still be able to enjoy all the fun things!!

  • My Advice for New Students: It is very important to manage your time responsibly. The Knowledge Center should be your second home!

  • My Advice for New Students: Feel absolutely comfortable with yourself and to ask questions. The Nevada experience can be anything you make of it, just know your resources! And if you feel it's right, get involved.
