Welcome to the Spring, 2005 Issue

Since many of us are preparing to leave for New York City to attend the ICA Annual Meeting, we decided to devote some of this issue to the events of September 11th. The commentary essay looks to the Oklahoma City National Memorial, a monument to the terrorist bombing of a federal building that was dedicated only months before the World Trade Center’s destruction, for lessons about how we might memorialize September 11th. Our featured data resource section offers a guide to the Library of Congress’s online archive of materials related to September 11, which includes over 200 audio interviews with average citizens conducted in the days following the attack. A similar archive of materials relating to the attack on Pearl Harbor is also available online from the LOC.

This issue also contains a call for nominees to serve APSA's Political Communication Division in various capacities.

The calendar of upcoming meetings includes both of our parent associations’ annual conferences as well as the AEJMC meeting and several conferences abroad. Among the calls for papers is a request for submissions to the American Political Science Review’s centennial issue on the evolution of political science. Recent books reveal continued interest in war, terrorism and international politics.

Our grants and resources page seems to grow longer with every issue, and this issue contains over 15 different funding opportunities

We hope that everyone has a wonderful summer opportunity, and we hope to see many of you soon in New York!
