Why do we have a University Ombudsman?
The University Ombudsman will:
- Listen and discuss concerns/problems off the record and help to identify options for resolution with all parties.
- Serve as a resource person to provide information about University polices and procedures.
- Serve as an impartial facilitator and/or mediator in problem-solving and conflict resolution.
- Attempt to resolve a dispute in an informal way.
- Make referrals to other services and resources available.
- Provide a confidential means for communication.
- Offer recommendations regarding changes in policies, practices, procedures, and resolution structures.
- Conduct workshops and forums on issues.
