Kayoko Okumoto Scholarship
What is an International Student Kayoko Okumoto Scholarship?
This is a partial ($500) scholarship that pays for a portion of the out-of-state tuition (non-resident tuition) for the academic year for which the award is granted.
Who is eligible for a Kayoko Okumoto Scholarship?
- Full time, undergraduate UNR students majoring in Business of History using F-1 or J-1 visa status.
- Students with a total cumulative GPA of a 2.75 or higher.
- Students must have full time enrollment at UNR for the semester prior to the semester that they are applying for the Kayoko Okumoto Scholarship (twelve credit hours constitutes full-time enrollment; audit credits are not included in the total).
- Students must have full time enrollment at UNR during the semester of the award.
- Students may have other small scholarships, but no substantial scholarship aid from any other source.
On what criteria is the Kayoko Okumoto Scholarship Award based?
- Preference is given to students from Japan.
- The student’s overall GPA (the higher GPA, the more consideration).
- The amount of financial need the student has.
How do students apply for a Kayoko Okumoto Scholarship?
- Complete all sections of the Kayoko Okumoto Scholarship Application.
- Attach written confirmation of any involvement in extracurricular activities from supervisors, club presidents, etc.
- Attach any other documentation that would be helpful in making the decision (recommendations, proof of special circumstances or any other documentation that would be helpful).
When will Kayoko Okumoto Scholarship applicants be notified?
- Recipients are usually notified within one month of the application deadline whether they have, or have not, received the Kayoko Okumoto Scholarship.
How will recipients receive the Kayoko Okumoto Scholarship?
- The Kayoko Okumoto Scholarship will be applied directly to the student’s tuition through the Cashier’s Office.
Where do I get an application for the Kayoko Okumoto Scholarship?
- You can pick up an application at OISS, room SSB 120 or print the online copy.
