International students at this university are usually involved in sharing their culture with members of the campus and local community, during events such as at the Night of All Nations. We encourage you to bring along DVD's, pictures, traditional clothing, or videotapes about life in your country. We anticipate that you will add an important dimension to our increasingly international campus and local community. We look forward to welcoming you to Reno, Nevada!
Night of All Nations is an annual Event hosted by the International Club at the University of Nevada, Reno. The evening features over 50 country booths serving food and presenting their culture. A stage is setup, where dancers and musicians will entertain the crowd, while at the event. Another feature are child friendly craft booths, where traditional crafts from different countries are taught. The public is invited to enjoy this event and learn about cultures and people from around the world.
The value of a university experience in another country is more than the opportunities given in the classroom. You have come to the University of Nevada, Reno and probably want to become acquainted with Americans and gain a deeper insight into the American culture. The Friendship Family Program provides you with this opportunity by matching you with families from the community. The family generally contacts you three times each semester to participate in a social activity. For more information about the Friendship Family Program, please contact OISS.
