Flying to Reno/Tahoe International Airport
OISS can pick you up
We encourage you to find someone to pick you up from the airport. With prior notification of at least 2 weeks we can arrange to have an OISS staff member meet you at the airport to transport you to temporary housing. We offer airport pick ups on weekdays from Monday, August 15, 2016, to Friday, August 26, 2016, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Please fill out and submit a Request for Airport Pickup form. Please mail or fax (775) 327-5845 the Airport Arrival Notice or email us at: email@example.com with your arrival information. Please make sure to ask only one person to pick you up. Taxis are also available 24-hours a day throughout Reno. From the Reno/Tahoe International Airport to the University, a taxi may cost about $30, including tip.
Please note: Staff members who pick you up at the airport do not provide temporary housing. It is your responsibility to arrange a place to stay.
The Reno/Tahoe International Airport is only 15 minutes from the university campus and downtown. Reno can be reached very easily via San Francisco or Los Angeles. Most commonly, connecting flights are arranged through San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and other major cities.
Note -Customs and Border Protection (CBP) : When you arrive in the United States, a CBP officer will scan your passport and generate an electronic arrival record for you. The officer will place an admission stamp in your passport that will show the date of admission, class of admission (F-1, F-2, J-1 or J-2), and the date that you are admitted until ("DS" for international students and their dependents). The electronic I-94 will be available on the Department of Homeland Security website. OISS advises that you go to this website to check your admission information after your enter the U.S. If the admission information is incorrect, talk to an OISS advisor about it as soon as possible
