Summary
Emily McClure's first job out of undergraduate school was for the University of Nevada, School of Medicine working on securing the 501(c)3 status and federal level funding for the High Sierra Area Health Education Center located in Reno, Nevada. After graduating from nursing school, she worked as a staff nurse in the critical care units at Washoe Medical Center (now Renown Regional Medical Center).
During her time at Renown, she also worked at the Institute for Neuroscience as a study site coordinator for multiple sclerosis and seizure clinical drug trials as well as supported other neuroscience patient initiatives. After completing her master's degree in nursing education, she worked as a clinical nurse educator for the adult intensive care units as well as two procedural areas at Renown. She co-facilitated clinical education, training and orientation for new clinical hires and developed annual competency educational programs for nursing staff.
Her duties also included development of policy and procedures, implementing and updating evidence based care practices for bedside clinicians. During this time, she was also adjunct nursing faculty for the Orvis School of Nursing teaching clinical rotations for undergraduate students. In the fall of 2016, she became full time faculty with the Orvis School of Nursing.
