NNELI offers professional development in STEM and ESL for licensed, practicing K-12 classroom teachers. Teachers who hold a current ESL endorsement, have taught for three or more years, and teach in Title 1/STEM -designated schools or schools with at least 25% ELs are eligible to apply. (Bilingual teachers preferred.) Successful applicants will receive advanced training, including strategies for working with ELs within STEM content-based disciplines and the development of Academic Language with ELs. The compressed schedule will provide completers with 6 graduate credits over an intensive three-week period, beginning July 14, 2014.
The above courses are scheduled Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to noon, and 1:00 to 4:00 pm, respectively.

This program provides financial assistance toward courses and books, and is open to a limited number of WCSD teachers. Teachers from other districts or private schools in Northern Nevada who meet eligibility criteria will be considered if there is space.
