Nevada Faculty Alliance

The NFA maintains a position on its State Board for one faculty member to serve as our liaison with State government, in order to articulate the needs and concerns of higher education. This requires meetings with Interim Finance, System Compensation, and Health Benefits committees, the Governor's Budget Director and staff during the building of each biennial budget, and then (when in session) meetings with elected officials in the Nevada State Assembly and Senate. In Nevada, these governmental liaison and lobbying activities are a continuing need; they require that we keep in constant touch with the Chancellor's office, the seven campus presidents, and of course the seven campus NFA chapters so that information can be developed, unexpected problems can be resolved, and Nevada's higher education faculty can be effectively represented by one of their own in the course of executive and legislative branch decision-making.
