Newton Network Newsletter – September 2007

Newton Network News:  Well, here we are at the beginning of a new school year.  Hopefully, everyone has had a refreshing summer and has had a chance to prepare themselves and their classrooms for the coming year.  This begins Newton Network’s third year, and with it, some changes and innovations; we are working on some ways to serve Nevada’s teachers more effectively.  Watch for some upgrades over the next few months.

As is normal for the beginning of the year, we don’t have a lot of new programs to talk about with this issue, however we will provide some of the outreach programs available to you from the higher education facilities around the state.  Once again, we invite all of you to pass along your Newton Network Newsletter to your colleagues, and let them know that they can sign up on the website to get their own newsletter if they are interested.

Outreach Opportunities – Now is the time to be looking toward improving your professional skills and reaching forward just a little bit more.  To make life easy for you, we have compiled a list of available higher education links around the state for you.  There have been changes with some of Nevada’s higher education institutions in the past year or two, but if you check, you may find that one (or more) of them can provide some online and/or distance education opportunities that will allow you to teach, learn, and still have time to relax.

Gotta Question?  As we continue to grow our database and contacts, we want everyone to know that you can ask a question at any time.  We will find the answer, or we will find someone who has it.  What do you use to teach basic chemical reactions if you don’t have a lab?  How do you manage critters in your classroom?  How can you teach quantum physics with jump ropes?  No question goes unanswered.  Try out the system.
