Information
Our Goals
Our primary goal is to get information to teachers related to extended learning, professional development, possible grant-related opportunities, classroom support, and anything else that may be of value to classroom teachers.
Our second goal is to NOT bother you otherwise! We understand that teachers are very busy, so we will do our best to keep our newsletters brief and to the point so you can look them over and get back to the most important job in the world.
How to Become a Contact Teacher
We would like to have at least one contact teacher in every school building in the state, but would be happy to send a newsletter to every teacher in your school. If you are interested in being the contact person and/or receiving the Newton Network Newsletter, we would ask that you check your email regularly, and if we have sent information to you, we would ask that you get it to your colleagues as expediently as you can. To become a contact teacher, please fill out this form.
How to Get Information to Teachers
If you have a program, course, grant opportunity or other information that would be helpful for teachers, please contact Robert Newbury or Michael Leverington. In most cases, the information will be sent out with our monthly newsletter; however, if you wish to request immediate dissemination, please indicate this. It would also be a good idea for you to provide us with a phone number at which you can contacted in case any information in your materials needs to be clarified.
Newton Network Newsletter
Each month during the school year we send by email a newsletter containing information about science and math projects and learning opportunities throughout the state. We strive to keep you informed on grant funded projects, science fairs, educational opportunities and professional development resources. To subscribe to our newsletter or to read current and previous newsletters go to our newsletter page.
Professional Development Resources
We realize that part of being a great teacher is maintaining professional skills. In our newsletter we will publish links to professional development resource that could be valuable to you. As a further service to you we have consolidated the links previously published in our newsletter on the Professional Development Resources page.
Teaching and Classroom Resources
We have assembled a collection resources for your use in creating a active learning environment. The resources include math and science related projects, experiments, activities, lesson plans and webquests. We have also found sources for class materials available form businesses and agencies. Need an idea, check out our collection on the Teaching and Classroom Resources page.
