Launch was near Las Vegas, NV. There was a lot of surface wind, which made filling the balloon VERY hard. We actually popped one balloon during filling. The second balloon ended up being under-filled. The end result was a “floater” with an initial ascent rate of about 150 ft/min. The maximum altitude was around 85,000 feet. The mission lasted about 7 hours instead of the usual 2 hours. In the end, it was a good duration test of the communications system.
