One of the hard
lessons learned when we first go into ballooning: use the right antenna. One of those
"no-duh" moments in hindsight, but we really didn't know anything about
antennas back then.
This was our first antenna. It doesn't work very well. We
got 2 packets from our balloon after launch and then there was
nothing. We had better luck visually tracking the balloon.
In all fairness this antenna is designed for 27 MHz (11
m) and we were using it for the 2 m band. The antenna probably
works much better for CB frequencies.
