Associate residency coordinator in Family and Community Medicine consistently goes above and beyond

Brittney Espinoza, administrative assistant in the Department of Family & Community Medicine of the University of Nevada School of Medicine, has been named the September Classified Employee of the Month, the Staff Employees Council announced.

Espinoza, a 2012 graduate of the University, is the department's associate residency coordinator. The position served approximately 21 family medicine residents, a sports medicine fellow and 12 family physicians/providers and works with the administration of the Family Medicine Center.

According to nominator Karen Selbach, program administrator/program coordinator, Espinoza consistently impresses in carrying out the demands of her position.

"Brittney is a self-starter and is able to see the broad task at hand," Selbach wrote. "She anticipates problems and therefore is able to avoid many unnecessary delays. She is uber-efficient and performs all her duties in an effortless-appearing style.

"She is accurate and efficient in all that she does."

Selbach added that Espinoza is a team player, and collaborates willingly and often with her colleagues.

"Brittney consistently demonstrates a willingness to assist in other areas of the office when the workload is heavy, and demonstrated a willingness and ability to cover in all areas of the residency program operation," Selbach said. "She is a true leader and is confident, has a great demeanor, and is logical in her quest to complete assignments and take responsibility. She makes all in her path want to do and be more efficient and caring in our endeavors.

"She is enthusiastic about our many projects and responsibilities. Brittney has a contagious smile - and does this, as well with her attitude."

According to Selbach, Espinoza has developed great skill in executing her daily duties, which are often quite complicated.

"Brittney has a broad understanding of the operations of the residency and fellowship programs over the past year, and in office and systems management in general," Selbach wrote. "Her perspective remains positive in all she does. She is skilled in the daily business operations and in managing rotations, evaluations, leave records, assisting residents, students and faculty.

"She is an incredible asset to this program."

For her part, Espinoza said, "I really enjoy the people I get to work and all of the wonderful opportunities that come with being employed with the University of Nevada, Reno."
