University of Nevada, Reno Parking and Transportation Services will be altering shuttle routes beginning Monday, June 1. The new routes are intended to increase the safety and efficiency of University shuttle transportation.

As the University continues to experience record growth, parking officials have collaborated to adjust shuttle routes to better ensure student, faculty and staff safety while providing the most efficient routes possible. The new shuttle services will no longer travel through campus, but rather up and down the west and east sides of the University.

Routes are identified as the BlueLine, which will service the west side of campus and the SilverLine, which will service the east side of campus.

Both routes service high demand areas, with an interchange at the north blue parking lot connecting both Blue and Silver line routes. The BlueLine will transport riders to and from the north parking areas to the south end of campus via West Stadium Way and N. Virginia Street. On the east side of campus, the SilverLine will transport riders to and from the off-campus housing in the north to Fleischmann Agriculture in the south.

During the fiscal year of 2014 there were nearly 731,000 riders on University shuttle buses. In favor of the many riders expected to participate in the shuttle service, planned route reconfiguration is anticipated to reduce the wait times on the BlueLine to six minutes and the SilverLine to 10 minutes. According to the Parking and Transportation Services, the new routes will be much faster in general, connecting riders from the north to the south of ends of the University in ten minutes or less.

PackTransit is an outgrowth of the University's Master Plan.
