Cross country team earns academic honor

U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association recognizes teams with top grade-point averages.

The University of Nevada cross country team has earned All-Academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2014 cross country season.

The Wolf Pack posted a 3.44 team grade point average to earn the distinction. Nevada is one of seven teams from the Mountain West, and one of 226 overall women's teams, to receive the honor. Michigan State was named the women's Division I Scholar Team of the Year after being the highest-finishing team at NCAAs to have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. The Spartans compiled a 3.39 GPA for the semester.  

The Southeastern Conference and the Big Ten Conference led the way with 14 women's teams earning All-Academic Team honors.
