Business Student Council hopes to show how business impacts every college and major on campus

Business Week, an annual event put on by the University of Nevada, Reno's Business Student Council, is Sept. 22 through 26. The event focuses on offering students across campus the opportunity to explore a number of business fundamentals including networking, personal branding, entrepreneurship, interviewing and more.

Business Week is packed with workshops, speakers, information sessions, and networking opportunities with business students, alumni and the community. Some highlighted events include:

1 Million Cups - Simulcast: Wednesday, Sept. 24
8:45 - 10 a.m., Anasari Business Building, Room 402, Ozmen Center for Entrepreneurship
1 Million Cups is a simple way to engage entrepreneurs in communities around the world. Each week, the 1MC program offers two local entrepreneurs an opportunity to present their startups to a diverse audience of mentors, advisors and entrepreneurs. Presenters prepare a six minute educational presentation and engage in 20 minutes of feedback and questioning after they present. Entrepreneurs gain insight into possible ways they can improve their businesses, gather real-time feedback, connect with a community that cares about their progress, and walk away feeling like they have advanced their business. The audience also learns a great deal from the presentations.

Chief Operations Officer Speaker: Thursday, Sept. 25
7 - 8 p.m., Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center, Wells Fargo Auditorium
Eric Edelstein is the executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Reno Aces. Students, faculty and community business professionals are encouraged to come listen to his success story and participate in a question/answer session.

Conversations with a LinkedIn Exec: Friday, Sept. 26
1:15 - 2:15 p.m., Joe Crowley Student Union Theatre
Tey Scott, LinkedIn recruiter, will be on campus to discuss the importance of being connected, what LinkedIn can do for students and what it takes to work at a Fortune 500 company.
