ROTC commissions four December graduates into U.S. Army

'Exceptionally proud of this group of Second Lieutenants'

The University of Nevada, Reno recently commissioned four cadets as Second Lieutenants in the United States Army.   Col. Daniel R. Waters, a University and ROTC graduate who is currently serving as the Commander of the 991st Troop Command, of the Nevada Army National Guard, was the guest speaker at the ceremony.  

"I'm exceptionally proud of this group of Second Lieutenants," said Lt. Col. Michael Minaudo, chairperson of the University's Military Science Department.  "They have demonstrated that they have superior potential and are ready to lead Soldiers to accomplish the mission."

Distinguished guest attending the ceremony included Brigadier Gen. William Burks, Adjutant General for the state of Nevada, Brigadier Gen. Michael Hanifan, Commander of the Nevada Army National Guard, and Congressman Mark Amodei.

Listed below are the newly commissioned officer names, their component, and branch of the Army that they will be working in:

Second Lt. Kevin Gerow - Active Duty, Military Intelligence / Branch Detail Infantry;

Second Lt. Jessica Miller - Nevada Army National Guard, Nurse Corps;

Second Lt. Jacqueline Talavera - Active Duty, Military Intelligence;

Second Lt. Gabriele Vieyra - Nevada Army National Guard, Ordnance Corps.
