PRSSA Hosts Student Conference

All students will learn something from this conference and Monday, April 9, Nevada students receive a one-day $20 discount

The University of Nevada, Reno's Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapter is hosting a regional conference this week for students to learn networking techniques, resume tips, communication skills and more. The conference is open to all students, faculty, staff and alumni and kicks-off on April 12 and goes through April 14.

"While we are a public relations organization, this conference can help all students across our campus and throughout the west coast," said Lindsay Panko, vice president of the PRSSA chapter and conference coordinator. "This conference is a great opportunity for students to prepare themselves for the real world and their lives after graduation."

Students of the University currently receive a $5 discount to the conference, but on Monday, April 9, Nevada students will have the opportunity to register for $35-a $20 discount. The three day conference provides a welcome reception with dinner, a keynote address by local networking guru, Alice Heiman, a free breakfast at the Silver Legacy Resort, multiple sessions on professional development with resume and interview tips and networking opportunities with students and professionals alike. Registration for the conference is open until Wednesday, April 11. Panko said participants can also purchase a single-day ticket for $15.

PRSSA is a national organization divided into 10 regions. The PRSSA chapter at the University of Nevada was selected by the national organization to host this region one conference out of several other applicants. PRSSA members from region one, including California, Oregon, Utah and Alaska, will attend the conference, along with attendees from the Reno area.

"We're excited to welcome fellow PRSSA members to this conference, and introduce Nevada students to the great opportunities PRSSA members are already enjoying. This is a great way to get your foot in the door for that coveted after-graduation career," said Panko.
