This week, leadership from colleges of business from around the West gathered at Harvey's in South Lake Tahoe to network and exchange ideas. About 60 members of the Western Association of Collegiate Schools of Business, mostly deans, discussed issues important to business colleges, such as trends in management education, buildings, accreditation and collegiate advisory boards. Colleges of business from universities in the states of Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon and Washington were represented.

Greg Mosier, dean of the University of Nevada, Reno College of Business, is president of the association and brought its annual meeting to South Lake Tahoe. He and his staff designed and administered the conference program for the group, with many of the major colleges of business in the West represented.

"We find it very helpful to meet on a regular basis and share information, discuss common concerns and learn from best practices at other universities," Mosier said. "We are facing many of the same challenges, so in addition to formal presentations, it is very useful just to have some time to talk and brainstorm."

A keynote presentation was made by Matt Krystofiak, a regional vice president of Caesars Entertainment, a College of Business Corporate Partner. He described the engagement of the University of Nevada, Reno College of Business with his company's workforce needs and that of other businesses in the region.

Mosier said he was pleased to have the opportunity to host the group in northern Nevada. 

"It is great when we can show off all we have to offer in northern Nevada, and the weather was perfect," he said. "We also had the chance to showcase our University of Nevada programs, such as the Corporate Partners organization, and highlight the national rankings of our academic programs."
