Nominate the next employee of the month

The SEC Employee Recognition Committee is always accepting Employee of the Month nominations. Please consider nominating your most-deserving classified colleague.

Camilla Allen, Administrative Assistant IV in the Department of English in the College of Liberal Arts, was recently named September's Staff Employees Council (SEC) Classified Employee of the Month.

Allen was nominated by two faculty members in the Department of English, who praised Allen's "cool, calm, reliable performance" in day to day duties, as well during a difficult period last spring when a valued staff member unexpectedly was hospitalized and passed away. Allen spent countless hours at her colleague's bedside, and then took responsibility for the staff member's duties in what one faculty member described as being "nothing short of miraculous."

"She is uncommonly driven and dedicated," one faculty member wrote. "Cami is the central figure upon whom the entire department knows that they can depend in these uncertain and unsettled times."

Added another faculty member: "Cami is professional and committed. She expects everyone to be responsible and to treat co-workers, faculty, students and the public with respect. In return, she more than does the same."

For her part, Allen said she most enjoys working, above all else, with the University's students.

"They keep me young or in mom mode, depending on the day," she said. "They are why we're here."
