University of Nevada, Reno awards nearly 1,550 degrees

The University of Nevada, Reno's Winter Commencement will take place Saturday, Dec. 8 at Lawlor Events Center. A total of 1,166 bachelor's degrees and 382 advanced degrees or certificates (master's and doctoral degrees and education specialist certificates) will be awarded.

Graduating students and faculty leaders will assemble at 8 a.m., and the formal processional begins at 8:30 a.m. University President Marc Johnson will deliver welcoming remarks.

The University awarded 1,547 degrees at the December 2011 ceremony, 1,549 degrees at the December 2010 ceremony and 1,467 at the December 2009 ceremony.

Public parking is available in the West Stadium Parking Complex, directly north of Lawlor Events Center, as well as the Brian J. Whalen Parking Complex. The 15th Street entrance to campus, off Virginia Street, will close at 7 a.m. and will be accessible for special guests and media parking only.

The University of Nevada, Reno and its Alumni Association are proud to recognize eight graduates with one of the most prestigious awards at the University of Nevada, Reno - the Senior Scholar distinction. The top graduating student and his or her faculty mentor from each school and college are honored during the awards reception.
