Vice President Biden plans campus visit Wednesday

Vice President Joe Biden will visit the University of Nevada, Reno campus this week. The event, a campaign-sponsored rally in support of the candidacy of U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, will be Wednesday at the Virginia Street Gym. Dana White, Ultimate Fighting Championship president, and Chuck Liddell, UFC fighter, will also join the program.

Doors open at 8 a.m. The morning-long event is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required for entry to the event. However, tickets for preferred seating will be distributed by the Young Democrats club from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of the Joe Crowley Student Union on Monday and Tuesday. Preferred seating tickets are also available at Reid’s campaign offices.

For security reasons, the campus shuttle service will not be available Wednesday morning and will resume mid-day, following the conclusion of the event. Pedestrian traffic in the vicinity of the Virginia Street Gym will be diverted during the event. No disruptions to area vehicular traffic, such as street closures, are anticipated.

Free general-public parking will be available in the West Stadium Parking Complex, off North Virginia Street. For designated parking for disabled, VIP and media, enter campus at 15th Street (Lawlor Events Center) and follow the directional signage.
