University student playing on USA National Rugby team

Morgan Rovetti was a standout basketball and track and field athlete at Reno High School, graduating in 2008. In college, her athletic prowess has continued, as the University of Nevada, Reno student is playing for the USA Rugby Women’s Under-20 National Team.

Rovetti, who is currently studying abroad in Puntarenas, Costa Rica as part of the University Studies Abroad Consortium (USAC), recently played in a “curtain-raiser” match against Canada’s U-20 team in the Atlantic Cup in Lakeland, Fla., on Jan. 16. Canada won the match, 13-12.

Rovetti says she began playing rugby about a year and a half ago while at Brigham Young University. Last summer she joined the U.S. U-20 team, then transferred to Nevada last fall. She is one of 22 players selected from throughout the country on the U-20 team’s roster.
