Regents put out call for outstanding scholar

Each year the Board of Regents of the Nevada System of Higher Education recognize outstanding undergraduate and graduate students from each institution in the system. Recipients of the Regents’ Scholar award receive $5,000. JoAnn Hoskins, coordinator of the selection committee, will be accepting nominations for this award. Nominations must be submitted by an academic or administrative faculty member. They are due no later than Oct. 22.

Your nominee will then be contacted to gain additional information. To be eligible for nomination, students must meet the following:

  1. Nominees must be currently enrolled in no fewer than nine undergraduate credits or six graduate credits in the semester in which they are nominated.
  2. University undergraduate student nominees must have completed a minimum of 62 total credit hours within NSHE institutions prior to the semester in which they are nominated. University graduate student nominees must have been accepted to graduate standing prior to the semester in which they are nominated.

NSHE Guidelines state that recognition will be based upon an appropriately weighted consideration of academic accomplishments, leadership ability, and service contributions while a registered student at the institution.
