University of Nevada, Reno men’s basketball coach Mark Fox was introduced as the new head coach at the University of Georgia during a press conference Friday morning in Athens, Ga.

Fox leaves Nevada following five seasons, three NCAA Tournament appearances and a program-record 123 victories.

“I want to begin with an apology to the people of Northern Nevada because I wasn’t able to say good-bye,” Fox said at the news conference, as reported on the website of the Reno Gazette-Journal. “I’m leaving a wonderful place, a place where I loved being coach.”

Nevada director of intercollegiate athletics Cary Groth was scheduled to hold a press conference on the Nevada campus in the Hall of Fame Room of Legacy Hall at 2:30 p.m. Friday to further discuss the future of the men’s basketball program.
