September Student Outreach Clinic dates

The University of Nevada School of Medicine’s Student Outreach Clinics for September have been announced for the following dates: a General Health Clinic will be held on Sept. 13, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.; a Women’s Clinic is scheduled for Sept. 22 from 6 to 9 p.m.; and a Children’s Health Clinic on Sept. 27 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Student Outreach Clinics are a free service providing much needed care for Washoe County’s medically underserved population. Each clinic offers complete physical exams for school, sports or work and selected lab services at discounted fees.

The Student Outreach Clinic has the capability to perform various diagnostic lab tests, x-rays, blood work, ultrasounds and free immunizations for children. Small fees averaging between $5 and $20 may apply to certain diagnostic services and patients are recommended to call ahead to learn more about blood services.

Under the direct supervision of licensed faculty physicians, medical students from the University of Nevada School of Medicine offer monthly Student Outreach Clinics which provide free general, children’s and women’s care. No insurance or appointment is necessary for clinic patients who are seen on a first come, first served basis. Each clinic offers complete physical examinations and referral services. The children’s clinic provides school physicals and physicals for the Head Start program, as well as immunizations. The women’s clinic provides free pap smears, pregnancy testing and sexually transmitted disease counseling.

All clinics are held at University Health System’s Family Medicine Center, located on the University of Nevada, Reno campus just north of Mackay Stadium off of North Virginia Street at 17th Street.
