Nevada Humanities accepting nominations and applications for board membership

Nevada Humanities is seeking five new members to serve three-year terms on the Nevada Humanities board of trustees. Applications are due by July 31, 2008, for terms beginning Nov. 1, 2008. Application forms are available on the Nevada Humanities website. The forms include information for submitting applications online.

Nevada Humanities is a nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer board of 21 members. It is one of 56 state and territorial humanities councils affiliated with the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Board members are expected to make meeting attendance a high priority, be enthusiastic spokespersons for the humanities, attend and evaluate Nevada Humanities programs and events, make an annual gift consistent with their ability, and help build the resources and capacity of Nevada Humanities to serve the state by engaging in fundraising efforts.

Nevada Humanities is a statewide organization, and board members are selected for geographic and occupational diversity, their skills and talents, and their interest in and commitment to the humanities and civic life.
