Occupational Safety: Improve your driving skills

April 26, 2007

University employees now have the opportunity to complete a driver's training program sponsored by the National Safety Council. The training is provided through a self-paced, internet-based program that takes approximately four hours to complete. The training is available to all employees who drive as part of their job.

Benefits

The training is designed to improve overall driving skills by providing practical knowledge and techniques on how to avoid accidents, as well as providing the skills and knowledge necessary to choose safe, responsible and lawful driving behavior. Another benefit is that completion of the training could result in a reduction of your personal auto insurance rates. Check with your insurance agent to see if you qualify.

Who should participate

Although any employee who drives as part of their job is eligible to participate in the training, departments with an interest in the program should give priority to employees who drive frequently and employees who have limited driving experience.

How to learn more and sign up

Please note that a limited number of training slots are available. As such, slots will be assigned on a first come first served basis. To learn more or sign up for the training, please call Lisa Schaller at (775) 784-6139.
