Dean of the Reynold's School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno, Alan Stavitsky, will speak at a breakfast meeting sponsored by The Chamber. The breakfast will take place at 7:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 3.
Stavitsky became the dean of the Donald W. Reynolds School of Journalism April 1, 2012, having previously served as senior associate dean, professor and founding director of the George S. Turnbull Portland Center, the downtown Portland base of the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication. He is the author of Independence and Integrity: A Guidebook for Public Radio Journalism and co-author of A History of Public Broadcasting. Stavitsky has served as a consultant to local, national and international public broadcasting organizations on issues of media ethics and programming, and has advised the Corporation for Public Broadcasting on policies to preserve editorial independence in public media.
Cost will be $20 for Chamber members and $30 for public.
