Opportunities available for faculty to study or teach abroad

Deadlines are approaching for opportunities to study or teach abroad

Each year, the University Studies Abroad Consortium (USAC) and the University of Nevada, Reno offer faculty and professional staff members the opportunity to study or teach abroad.

More than 100 University faculty and staff have taken advantage of these programs.

Teaching abroad provides an unparalleled experience to broaden your horizons, grow as a person and teacher, and immerse yourself in a new culture.

USAC is currently accepting applications for two opportunities: the Faculty International Development Award (FIDA), and the Visiting Professorship (VP) programs.

Faculty International Development Award (FIDA): A FIDA allows you to gain an understanding of the full study abroad experience by participating on a USAC summer session as a student. This opportunity is open to administrative or academic faculty who would benefit from a better understanding of the USAC experience-be prepared to attend class, complete homework and assignments, and fully participate in all aspects of the program just like any student! Awardees will receive a program fee waiver, as well as $2,000 to support airfare, housing, optional tours, and other personal expenses. Applications are now being accepted for participation on summer 2017 programs.

Visiting Professorship (VP): Interested in teaching abroad? The VP program provides the opportunity for you to teach during a summer, semester, or winter term.  Establish contacts with foreign colleagues, enhance your foreign language skills, support international education, diversify course curriculum, and develop international relationships for research and other purposes, all while experiencing another culture. Applications are now being accepted for summer 2018, fall 2018, winter  2019, and spring 2019.
