Students may choose to earn a minor, a master's or a doctoral degree in Biochemistry.
Our minor provides training in both biochemistry and molecular biology, which are centered on the molecular events that take place in living cells. The sciences of biochemistry and molecular biology bring together the fields of biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics and microbiology as they describe how molecules important to life carry out their functions within cells.
Graduate degrees in biochemistry are offered through the Molecular Biosciences interdisciplinary graduate program. Our graduate studies culminate in the Master of Science and the Doctor of Philosophy degrees and we prepare students for careers in biological and biomedical research, industry, and teaching. We aim to train scientists for critical analysis and solution of biochemical problems at the molecular level.
