Instructional and Research Use of Facilities

During 1996 the Burrus facility was used for geology and mining engineering student instruction. Total instructional time amounted to 660 hours, a 31% increase over 1995. Dr. Larry T. Larson took his Geology 489/689 class (Exploration and Mining Geology) to the Burrus for an underground mine mapping exercise. The mine surveying class, Mining Engineering 243, under the guidance of Paul Pace, Mine Surveying Instructor, spent 10 days surveying on the surface and underground at the Burrus.

There was no research conducted at the Burrus during 1996. The following table summarizes the instructional and research time at the site.
