Plans for 1997Again, for 1997 we are planning optimistically. We will continue to push the projects begun in 1996 but not yet completed. Fund raising must continue, both to make the final property payment in June 1997 and to obtain operating funds to continue work at the site. We also hope to raise sufficient additional funds to start an interest bearing trust fund through the UNR Foundation. A minimum of $10,000 is required by the Foundation to gain interest. Work will persist on the cultural resources studies for the SUP (40 acres of Fee lands), for the R&PP (45 acres of peripheral land), for the road right-of-way, and for the power line right-of-way. We should be able to complete rehabilitation of Pace's Palace during the year. As the Burrus adit workings are over 50 years old we will not be able to do additional work there until the cultural resources study is completed and approved. However, we believe that we will be able to gain permission to begin work to open the lower adit to 10' by 10' as its workings were originally driven in 1959-1960. Road work, site fencing and gates will have to wait until we obtain the R&PP lands. Fencing and gating the 40 acres of fee lands would be of minimal value since we would have to move them after we obtain the R&PP lands. Work on the full safety program will continue as the need arises and time allows. We hope that some day this might make a nice masters thesis for someone particularly interested in underground mine safety. Although we hope to accomplish all we have planned for the year, we will not be upset if we don't realize everything. Progress is the goal. The following table, Table 7, outlines our plans for 1997 and our progress on plans adopted in 1995 and 1996:
