Research

  • Consortium
  • The ADTI-MMS also has an academic component to address environmental, water quality problems and safety issues related to abandoned non-coal mines found in the Western United States. The University Center for the Metal Mining Sector is the University of Nevada, Reno, Mine Life Cycle Center (MLCC). The Western Universities Mine-Land Reclamation and Restoration Consortium (the "Consortium") is a cooperative venture of the University of Nevada, New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, University of Utah, University of Idaho and the University of Alaska. The Consortium is dedicated to research, development, education and outreach related to abandoned mine land (AML) reclamation and restoration.

  • Network

    The ADTI-MMS also includes a university network, among which requests for proposals will be circulated. In addition to the Consortium universities, the network presently consists of Northern Arizona University, University of California (Berkeley), the Colorado School of Mines, Desert Research Institute, University of Missouri (Rolla), Montana State University - Bozeman, Montana Tech of the University of Montana, University of New Mexico, and the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.
