Undergraduate/Instructional Labs

Palmer Engineering Room 113

Instructional Laboratory (Palmer Engineering Room 113): This facility houses ten measurement and computer data acquisition workstations that can accommodate up to 18 students at a time. There are facilities for measuring and controlling pressure, temperature, heat transfer, strain, vibration, fluid velocity and flow rate, and material properties. The lab components of MECH 322 Instrumentation and other mechanical courses are taught in this facility.

 

Capstone Design and Mechatronics/Vibrations Laboratory (Palmer Engineering Room 2, basement): This facility is for capstone design projects and laboratory experiments in mechatronics, controls, and vibrations (ME451, ME410, ME343, ME 453/653).

Machine Shop

Machine Shop: Full-service machine and welding shop staffed by a full-time machinist, used for fabrication of research equipment and student projects.

Student Machine Shop: Available to all ME students for project fabrication.

Please Note: "In order to provide for your safety, no students will be permitted to use equipment in the student machine shop unless they have been instructed in safety procedures for the equipment being used by the Mechanical Engineering Department's technician and a memo indicating that safety training has been provided has been placed in your Department's student file. Students who use equipment without proper safety training will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal."
