Research Topic: The Factors Present in Hispanic Students With High Academic Persistence
Abstract: If we take a random pool of 100 Nevada Hispanic students entering elementary school, 44 of them will graduate and only 26 of them will enroll at a higher education institution. Even more surprising, only 7 of those students will graduate with a BA degree. More than half of the Hispanic students are lost before they can proudly wear their cap and gown (Yosso, 2006). High school seems to be a pivotal time for the retention of such students. With prevailing factors for Hispanic students at the center of the research experiment, a questionnaire was devised and a pool of Hispanic Students enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) and/ or Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) was interviewed. The results might be valuable for increasing the graduation rates of this group of students
